90% Of MENA Professionals Feel Optimistic About 2022 – Bayt.com Survey

A new survey by Bayt.com, the Middle East’s #1 job site, spotlights the career goals MENA professionals will focus on in 2022. The 2022 New Year’s Resolutions Poll reveals that the majority of professionals (90%) feel optimistic about 2022 and 85% believe this year will bring plenty of changes in their professional and personal lives.

In fact, most respondents are optimistic about their ability to stick to their resolutions. Over two in five (42%) of those who made a New Year’s resolution said they have achieved all their resolutions for 2021 and 33% of them achieved some of their resolutions for the year.

Although 80% of respondents are satisfied with their professional and personal growth during the past year, finding a new job emerges as the top career-related resolution for 56% of respondents, followed by getting a promotion or a salary raise (21%), learning new skills at work (21%) and improving relationships with colleagues and managers (2%).

Ola Haddad, Director of Human Resources at Bayt.com said: “Our new survey clearly shows that most MENA professionals are not only up for a challenge next year, but value it as a way to enrich their professional and personal lives. In fact, getting a new job is amongst professionals’ top New Year’s resolutions and many professionals will begin 2022 with great aspirations.”

Whilst looking for new jobs in 2022, 86% of respondents will spend more time looking for remote jobs, using online job sites (76%), company websites (14%), social media (6%) and virtual job fairs (2%).

One way to achieve professional goals at work is through an appraisal, which allows employees to discuss their performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, discover what their ambitions are and work out how to get there. A majority of respondents (67%) have year-end appraisals at their company while only 20% don’t. Additionally, the great majority of professionals (87%) think that year-end appraisals at work are helpful.

Furthermore, most MENA professionals are focused on improving aspects that have a direct impact on the quality of their lives. Among professionals who are making personal resolutions, popular ones are saving money (65%), exercising and following a healthy diet (21%), spending more time with friends and family (9%) and taking more vacations (6%).

Data for the 2022 New Year’s Resolutions Poll was collected online from November 11 to December 15, 2021. Results are based on a sample of 3,395 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan and others.
