The Comeback Of Noori’s “Bol” Through The Lens Of Mobeen Ansari
Pakistan’s leading band Noori had initially released the song “Bol” in 2003 as part of their “SunoKe Main Hun Jawan” album. Right from the time of the song’s release, its popularity gained momentum and soon became an anthem amongst Pakistani youth in the country and abroad. This video is directed & produced by Mobeen Ansari. For him “Bol” was instrumental in his younger years, offering him a vessel to introspect and create. The song had such an impact on him that it became his dream project to recreate a music video for “Bol” and now after 18years since its release, the remake of this music video is set to release online on 19th of November 2021.
Mobeen Ansari explains, “During the pandemic, I feel that all of us went into a period of reflection and I found myself turning deeper into music. This was one of the songs that I would listen to as a teenager. It offered me solace and it became synonymous with nights and speaking your inner truth. I had first met Ali Hamza through my brother Saad who was his classmate and friend at LUMS. Over the next few years the Noori brothers would become like brothers to me and I started touring with them from 2003 till 2016 as their photographer. It was only natural that I wanted my debut music video as a director to be for one of their songs and I am immensely grateful to both Ali Noor and Ali Hamza for allowing me to add my visuals and interpretation to their masterpiece “Bol”.
Ali Hamza says, “I remember meeting him as a 10year old before we started Noori and then as a 16year old when Noori concerts had started and there onwards the perseverance with which he has pursued his dreams is nothing short of inspiring and it’s fulfilling to be part of each others journey in one way or another. I know he felt strongly about “Bol” since it was released and wanted to make the video for the song for a very long time and its really his sheer dedication that he made it happen; this song is really dedicated to all Noori fans out there!”
“I have known Mobeen for so many years, from the start I found a special spark in him, he is an extremely talented photographer and along with that he also has this drive to persist and get what he wants; he was relentless in convincing us to let him make the video for “Bol” and once again he got his way! Making this video feels like a culmination of our years as musicians, our fans, people who have loved and supported us over the years and now have become like family to us. This felt like we were finally experiencing the fruits of our labor of passion, hard work whatever you may want to call it, it felt like being loved and right now I am swimming in this ocean of love” adds Ali Noor
The shoot for Bol began in June of 2021. The video was shot in several locations across Rawalpindi & Islamabad includingShah Allah Ditta Caves and the historical “Marri” Haveli in Wah Village. The video of “Bol” will be online from Friday the 19th of November 2021.
