Dubai Chamber Workshop Examines Best Practices In Sustainability Reporting
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted a two-day workshop at its premises which highlighted best practices in sustainability reporting and provided members of its Sustainability Network with frameworks and useful tools for preparing sustainability reports.
The workshop, entitled “Roadmap to Sustainability Reporting”, was organised by the Network’s Sustainability Reporting Task Force, and featured training sessions which were attended by representatives from the local business community.
During the sessions, representatives from UAE Exchange and SamTech Middle East shared their experiences and case studies in sustainability reporting, while they identified common challenges faced during the reporting process, as well as solutions implemented which helped them overcome such obstacles.
Khulood Hindiyeh, Senior CSR Specialist at BLUE LLC, provided attendees with an overview of the sustainability reporting process, and shared practical tips and best practices for drafting and improving sustainability reports.
For his part, Dr. Belaid Rettab, Senior Director of Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development Sector at Dubai Chamber, explained that the training sessions complemented the efforts of Dubai Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business to promote and encourage responsible business practices within Dubai’s business community.
He noted that the strong participation in the workshop reflected growing awareness among companies in Dubai about the importance of sustainability reporting, and highlighted the fact that businesses using such reports typically see higher productivity and improved efficiency, while they also support organisational efforts to boost social impact.
Established by the Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB), the Dubai Chamber Sustainability Network serves as the focal point for the business community to share and exchange best practices in implementing CSR and sustainability. The network provides an opportunity for local companies to network, learn, share experiences and constitute CSR leadership.
The Centre for Responsible Business was established by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2004 to support and promote corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. The Centre’s objective is to engage the Dubai business community in assuming greater responsibility for the emirate’s social and environmental needs. The CRB also promotes Dubai as the GCC’s gateway for global commerce by offering its business partners an environment of transparency and rule of law.
