Knowledge Summit Returns For 6th Year Under The Slogan ‘Knowledge For Sustainable Development’
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) launched the sixth edition of the Knowledge Summit this morning (Tuesday, November 19, 2019) at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of MBRF Chairman H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Summit takes place on November 19-20, 2019, under the theme ‘Knowledge for Sustainable Development’.
The 2019 edition of the Summit reflects the global vision and policies for achieving sustainable development, bringing together experts, academics, and decision makers from around the world to discuss regional and international challenges to sustainable development in various sectors, including education, health, economy, tourism, energy, food, and innovation, among others.
Furthermore, the Summit tackles economic subjects, where it explores the role of global trade as an engine for establishing inclusive societies, eradicating poverty, and building dynamic, people-centric economies.
For the very first time, the Knowledge Summit is set to include the Knowledge Exhibition, which will showcase innovative services and technologies, as well as research on sustainability in most industries and across the government and private sectors in the UAE. The event will also host the seventh Annual Clean Energy Annual Summit, organised by the Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC), exploring several topics, such as the renewable energy map in the MENA region; energy efficiency trends and best practices; electric mobility and alternative fuels; climate finance and carbon taxation; and technological innovation in energy, among others.
The Knowledge Summit 2019 honours the winners of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award, both individuals and organisations, from around the world, in addition to unveiling the findings of the Global Knowledge Index 2019, developed in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Launched in 2014, the $1 million Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award seeks to build a robust knowledge economy by stimulating creativity and innovation and celebrating knowledge and entrepreneurship across various fields. Its categories cover a wide array of subjects related to knowledge, development, innovation, entrepreneurship, information and communication technologies, printing and publishing, and digital publishing, among others.
